I still love being here, in spite of this cold snap and snow we're having today! I've enjoyed the bright sunny days we've had, my front door faces south so I open the inside door and soak up that sunshine! I'm sure my neighbors might wonder why I'm sitting on my stairway reading the paper!!! A dose of Vitamin D is a good thing!

Agree about the sunshine. Walking outside in the sunshine, even in the weather is great. I have so much energy when I do that. I like sitting outside in a chair soaking up the sun in January. I close my eyes and relax for like 10 minutes.

Personally i think it all depends on what your looking for and what you like to do. Yea for young people maybe Wisconsin isnt that great. I was born in Eau Claire, parents divorced and grew up in Mpls & EC and lived in Mpls most of the past 15 years, but now that im getting old 30.. =) i'm settling back in wisconsin either madison or milwaukee. I would recommend wisconsin to anyone, whatever u want if you cant find it here im sure u can find in Mpls or chicago, not to knock madison or milwaukee

He's not crazy about moving to WI but he has a brother already up there who said he will never move away from there. And he also said he wants whats best for our family, and that is not sending our kids to the schools around here.

I can agree with that! My husband and I just brought our kids up here from Florida, another place you don't want to raise kids!!

I live in Stevens Point, WI currently and like it here but also look forward to moving in the summer. The town is just too small for me and the landscape isn't what I'm looking for (don't get me wrong I love the water and forests, but prefer the features of the West). Even though it hasn't been my choice to live here for my first 21 (will be about 22 when I leave) years, I have not regretted it and am glad to be a Wisconsinite first and foremost.

The lack of sunshine is precisely a good reason to leave Wisconsin.

This is the kind of pride that you will only find in Wisconsin and in no other state. For every 1 person who bashes Wisconsin it seems that there are 20 who love Wisconsin no matter what. I am not really sure what it is. I absolutely love Wisconsin even though I reside on the Suncoast of Florida. I love coming back to visit a couple times a year. Maybe it is the friendly people, the 4 distinct seasons, the recreational activities, or the low crime or maybe all of the above. Whatever a person is looking for, they can find it in Wisconsin.

I'm finding the prevalence of sunshine to be one of the better reasons for moving to Wisconsin. This winter has been a lot sunnier than any I've had in more than 20 years and it's been great! Even on days like today when it's not sunny the snow reflects enough light to make it reasonably bright outside.

According to the national weather service, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida are the sunniest states. Milwaukee has 175 cloudy days per year, and Green Bay comes in at 178. That is far from my definition of "prevalence."

It's all relative. They list Milwaukee as having 90 sunny days per year - Seattle has 58. That's an extra month of sun. You have 175 cloudy days for Milwaukee, Seattle is 226.
Note that I didn't say that sunny days were prevalent - just that the prevalence (frequence of occurence) of sunshine is one of the things that I like about Wisconsin.
