If your renting a house in Eau Claire you shouldn't have a problem really with any neighborhood, house that would be for rent would or should generally be in a decent part of town. Eau Claire doesnt really have any bad parts for the most part

Hi-

There are very few sketchy neighborhoods in Eau Claire. Many people choose to live on the southside of town because it is convenient to shopping. One particular area I'm thinking of (Golf Rd/Damon St/Fairfax ave) has South Middle School, Fairfax public Pool, and even a par-3 golf course all within blocks of each other. There are quite a few newer duplexes being built in this neighborhood.

Eau Claire does have a bustling college scene. If you aren't looking for the "excitement" of a college neighborhood, I would avoid the Randall Park area. If you don't mind that kind of thing, then great! I have friends who live in Randall Park and love it, but they always like to have things going on around them.

Don't overlook the North side of town either...housing tends to be a little cheaper on the North side because it used to be further away from the "hi-growth" south side. But we just built a bypass that allows people to get from one side of town to the other in minutes via Interstate, so the South Side's advantage is decreasing.
