Thanks again! We'll probably be coming up soon and plan to check out the areas that you've suggested.

We went down to the Dells in December and were also there over the summer. It has changed so much since I was a kid. I think I was there in the late 60s. We had an enjoyable time. My kids liked skiing and I went walking through the state park. Very nice and a lot of people enjoying the outdoors. In summer it was a lot busier but my kids enjoyed the waterpark. We also liked hiking at Devils Lake and I think it was Mirror Lake. There were some very nice houses.

My husband's main office is in Baraboo. We go down there for dinners and other company events. I enjoy the area. It is close to Madison. The Dells has extended their season by adding a lot of water parks. Our kids are grown but we still enjoy going down there. Some good places to eat.

I presume you mean they've extended their season by adding indoor water parks?

Yes, the indoor parks. We were down there last night for dinner with some clients. It was so pretty, they had fresh snow and the trees still had their Christmas lights so it looked so festive. We ate at Del-Bar and it was very good. We were going to spend the night but we are only 90 minutes away so we drove back home after dinner.

We have lived in the Wisconsin Dells area before - you want to stay away from residing in that community. Traffic is terrible during all summer months and is very difficult to get around. There is lots of rural property for sale outside of Wisconsin Dells which might meet your needs but just be aware, getting back and forth to your job will be a daily nightmare during the summers. In the winter, traffic slows way down and your number of customers will also drop dramatically so if you can afford to have a lower income during the winter months, the Dells might be a good choice for you. Riding your bike anywhere near the main highways will be risking your life during summer months. A piece of cake during early spring, mid-fall and the winters. It is a beautiful area, mostly wooded. Communities do NOT spray for mosquitoes - first because of the health hazards and secondly, because of the unnecessary cost. If you want to be outside during the summer, a screened gazebo will be your best bet. Hope this helps. We lived in Mauston and both of our girls worked in the Dells all through their high school summers.
