Only one of 'em still lives in Milwaukee, and it's not like they ever really play live here. DeLorenzo and and Ritchie are still held in high regard locally, but Gano is a bit of a different story. DeLorenzo is around town quite a bit, even did sound for one of my bands at one point, super nice dude.

Definitely wouldn't be my pick for "best" but I loved the debut as a kid when it came out. I'd go Baroques, Robbs, Die Kreuzen, Chordettes, Shivvers, Oil Tasters, and a bunch more first (some would say Bon Iver, Garbage, and so on for newer commercial bands), but they're held in especially high regard in Milwaukee vs the rest of the state. Les Paul is the musical talent shadow in Wisconsin. Inventor (first electric guitar, first to develop multi-track recording, and so on), guitarist, songwriter, genius.

I loved the Violent Femmes back in the day, but the last album I bought (eons ago) was a disappointment. I didn't even know they were still together.

Oddly enough just a week or 2 ago i was loading a (semi) truck at work and noticed a ton of band equipment. I asked the driver what that was all for. He said.. yeah its some band called "The Violent Femmes" i never heard of them before have you?

I was like... uhh yeah. I asked him if he was from Wisconsin (He was prob early 30's) and he said he was from Racine. No idea how he never heard of them before lol.

I think "still together" is Gano and session dudes, no? The rhythm section was a giant part of the VF sound.

Ah. Too, bad. I thought I heard Gano went a little off the deep end in the 90's. Is that true?

He isn't as well-regarded by musicians around town as the other 2 guys on a personal level, but that's really all I know. He rubs people the wrong way.
