Doesn't get any better than this.
I grew up in Mineral Point, moved away for several years and moved back in the late 80's. I've never regretted that decision. It's a great place to feel connected while being your own person.
There are several good places to eat. My faves: Brewery Creek, Cafe Four and The Walker House.
We had more snow than usual this winter and last. I bought a pair of cross country skis and enjoyed both winters. There were a few days where my commute to Madison was a bit tricky, but I certainly wouldn't call either of the winters terrible. It should be noted, however, that hot, humid weather is not my friend.
