I drive thru Illinois quite often, never have much of a problem, I usually drive no more than five miles over the speed limit. They want to drive fifteen miles over the speed limit it's their business, I just stay on the outside lane.

But when Illinois drivers try to drive 80 mph on Hwy 41/45, a four lane divided Hwy,two lanes each way, do some extreme tailgating in the process, then they become the much maligned FIBs.

I think WIBs needs some more work, LOL

I have never set foot in your lovely state, but please allow me to share the following observation. We are a military family that has lived all over the U.S., and every time we have had neighbors or met people from Wisconsin, they have been the BEST neighbors!

Culver's came to Nebraska while we were living there, and we still talk about their shakes and sundaes! Have not come across anything more delicious since.

Thank you, Wisconsin! I hope to visit you one day.

Okay...I'm an Illinoian, living out west now and looking to move back east....but let me say I LOVE Wisconsin and if I thought I could get back into that winter mode of living, I'd probably move there. I'm not into the whole IL vs WI deal. I have lots of fond memories of drives through lovely WI during the summer, autumn, etc. Sooo..A shout out to you guys!

The thing I love about Wisconsin is that there's a feeling of a camraderie among people (that I can't quite explain).

If you're from Wis. and on vacation far away, and you run into someone else from here, it's like you're reuniting with a long-lost pal -- you instantly know you have a shared local culture in common (Packers, Bucky, Culvers, curds, blue moon).

Anyway ...
1. The Wisconsin Accents.
It gets worser as you go up nort, eh!

3. Everyone follows the rules on the road.
That's because you'll get stopped. Just about every time I have gone 5 mph over the limit -- ESPECIALLY when I've been in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin, where cops shouldn't be!! -- I've gotten stopped.

4. The food!
Don't forget the blue moon ice cream!!

6. The crappy roads.
Not as bad as New England roads.

7. Cheap drinks!!!!
There are quite a few places where I live where you can still get a beer for $1 at a bar. Granted, it's a can of Hamm's, but still ... $1!!! That's probably why so many people here have OWIs.

Maybe I'm just used to the roads here, but I don't think they are any worse than most of the other states i've been in.

The worst roads are in Oklahoma. One of the best were in Kansas, but that was 30 years ago. Haven't been there in at least ten years.
