Listen, I know where you are comming from concerining the weather. We are moving to Madison form San Diego this summer. I did spend 10 days in Wi this winter when it just wouldn't stop snowing. Do you know what the roads are like when it rains in AZ or SD? Slippery as ice, so if you can handle that, you can learn to drive in ice and snow! Unless you are going to be a crodding guard, how much time would you spend out doors in the winter anyway. If you are going to go out to be recreational, you dress appropriately. Do you know what I found? When you go into a resturant or club in the dead of winter in Wi, the places are heated!!!! You can wear a tank top and be comfortable. Seriously. When you go into a rest in San Diego (probably AZ too), there is no heat unless you want to be under a heat lamp on a patio. When its 70 outside, its 70 inside. In Wi, when its -5 outside, its 76 inside. You feel warm!!!!
Just think about all those clothes you see in catalogues and magazines that you can actually wear now!!!! It's a positive thing!!!!!

I agree. We have friends in AZ and they hate when it gets cold down there. There is no heat and they freeze.

i recommend appleton; my wife and i used to live in oshkosh. one day i said "y'know, anytime we do anything we go to appleton, why don't we just live there". of course neenah is just a stone's throw, and it does have some quiet neighborhoods.

At the northern end of Lake Winnebago there are a lot of cities within a stone's throw: Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Kimberly, Little Chute. Neenah and Menasha are called the twin cities, as they are literally across the street from each other. And other cities less than an hour away.

The weather here in the Valley is kind of drizzly, snowy today and 33 degrees.

Jenml,

We are moving from Phoenix to Appleton this June. I grew up in southern Wisconsin and have lived in Phoenix since '99. A combination of work issues (practicing medicine is much easier in Wis than AZ) and family issues (wanting to raise the kids in a safer, smaller city) has led us to make the move. I have found that AZ is a tough place to raise kids. During summer vacation it is too hot for them to do anything outside other than swim. Their summers have to be completely scheduled and mainly inside. At least during winter in Wisconsin the kids are in school.
Wisconsin people are the friendliest around. If you can deal with winter you will like living there.

Default KC possible

Hi, I am considering a job with KC. I too would be a phoenix transplant. I would love any opinion from some one who works for KC. I'm interested in knowing the work ethic and culture. I have read good things and not good things.
