Possibly taking a job in Guam... is it family friendly? (price, beaches)

My husband is thinking of taking a 2 year assignment in Guam with his company. We have two boys ages 9 and 13. I've been reading some negative comments online about Guam... for example, corrupt Gov't, prostitution, price gouging, dirty beaches, general dirtiness all over the island, lots of crime... I don't know what to think. Can someone give me some insight on what the island is really like? Thanks!

I've heard Wisconsin compared to a lot of different places, but never Guam!
