Ashland news
As I prepare for my relocation to northern Wisconsin, I plan to spend a couple months up there this summer. Was planning on just camping/staying in various communities, but a possible opportunity has come up in Ashland during the months of June & July. I know about Northland and the Apostle Islands (which is very cool!). Can anyone tell me about property in the area (preferably on some sort of water), campgrounds where I could stay for an extended period, things for an 8 year old to do, things for a single gal to do...anything and everything will be appreciated.
Have any of you lived in Ashland? Love to hear your experiences.
Thanks!!

I am at Northland College in Ashland, WI. Although I really cannot tell you about property and what not since I live on campus it is a really nice area. They do have a place for campers right on the shore of the lake Im sure tons more exist around Ashland as well. The city itself is nice, it has a historic downtown with murals, an "old fashioned" theatre, a nice coffee place, and "The Daily Bread"... I came from Ohio to here and glad I done so.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me more about the campgrounds? Or rentals in the area? What is Northland like? Tell me what you like about the area, that would help.
BTW, where in Ohio did you come from? I currently reside in NE Ohio--in Lake County.

I came from southern Ohio east of Cincinnati. I can only tell you about the campground in Ashland it is nice and has hookups and what not I believe. You can visit here for the camping spots:

I am a college student that wanted out of Ohio...and it just so happened Northland College had a meteorology major so that was the deciding factor. The lake is a big plus as well as the weather. I really love the cold and snow, the cold so far this season has been a shock for me. The area is very environment friendly (well most of it anyway) due to the fact many up here believe in that type of thing.
