and when I got up the at 9 am the windchill was 45 below. This is the 3rd real cold snap of the year. I was kinda hoping we were done with the big below zero temps but I should know better. Happy heating bill season I guess

Really cold here in Chippewa Falls also. My husband is doing the polar plunge today for the Special Olympics and I still think he is nuts, but it is all for a good cause.

Our elderly hot-water-radiator furnace is struggling mightily to get the temp in the house up to 70; it's been running nonstop since 5:00 a.m., and we're up to a scorching 69 degrees at 3:30 p.m. The spouse thought I was nuts when I came home with a space heater for our bedroom a month or so ago, but he's retracted his teasing comments at this point. That's the only comfortable room in the whole house right now.
It's a good day to stay indoors and bake. Got a batch of whole-wheat bread started, though we've had to turn on the oven to 150 and leave the bowl sitting on the open oven door to get the yeast to start working. But that smell of home-made bread on a day like this makes it ALMOST worth getting this cold.
Keep your woolies on, folks, and think about those crocus and hyacinths under all that snow; we're bound to see spring one of these months. I'm figuring June...

We saw several cars blow off the highway today. I've never seen that before. The wind and snow would blow accross and people would fishtail and spin around off the road. I was glad to get home. Weird to see so many cars off the road with no snow storm.

I grew up in Wisconsn and really miss the cold and snow. I am thinking of moving back, probably to Sheboygan County somewhere. The thing I'm not sure about though is the summers....the heat and mosquito's. I hope I can stand it. I left when I was about 25 yrs old.

You will have mild weather tonight compared with NE Minnesota. That area should have lows around -40F tonight. However, the winds will be calm.
