Default Buying a home in MN vs WI

Hi,
I have just taken a job in St. Croix Falls, WI very near the WI and MN border. Are there any advantages to purchasing a home in WI vs MN? For example, taxes, expense, schools etc etc. Thank you!

Property taxes in WI are higher then MN but income taxes in MN are higher. If you are going to be renting you might find it less expensive in WI. If you are going to be buying a house it is pretty much a wash.

Golfgal hit it right. Unless you make a filthy amount of coin or have a multimillion dollar house, it is a wash between each state.
Taylors Falls is very quaint in appearance and has some nice older homes-- feels a little more like a compact community, in my opinion. St Croix Falls sprawls out along highway 8. More room for building on acreage. Just depends on what you want.

Welcome to the area,
