"WItoNY" doesn't know what he's talking about. I grew up in Baraboo and I love the town. I never worked for Flambeau, but I know a few people who do and I never heard any complaints.
Baraboo is a great city to raise a family in. The schools have been good, although they recently have had a few problems passing a referedum. I still wouldn't worry about them. Lots of college prep classes, small classes, music, sports, etc. I grew up in Baraboo schools and I'm currently doing great in college.
Wisconsin Dells is also only 10mins away and is perfect for entertainment. Often the locals of the Dells/Baraboo area get great discounts on attractions. Baraboo's far enough out of the way to avoid most of the tourists, but its still close enough to the Dells to enjoy its attractions. With the new HWY 12 done, Madison is only a little over a half hour drive as well.
As far as saying most of the pop. is over 70? psh! i would say the avg age is around 30, but its pretty equally distributed.
If you're looking to live in the country, it will be very scenic. The Baraboo area has breaktaking hills and views.
I recommend Walnut Hill Bible Church on East Street on the North side of Baraboo. Its nondenomination, has choir, great youth ministry, etc Lots of family activities like trips, softball, picnics, small groups, MOPs, BBQ's, etc
Hope this is helpful!
