No, but I know some people from there and it is such a nice area with the pretty country side, yet it is close to Madison too!

Gosh these are beautiful pictures Josh. I know Portage fairly well and really appreciate your showing our lovely state off to those who don't realize just how wonderful it is.

I grew up in Rio, about 17 miles from Portage. We lived in Portage my whole adult life until about 4 years ago. You could not buy me a house and pay me to live there again. The crime has begun to get out of control. The winters are unbearable. This winter in particular...over 100" of snow. I still love to visit and see old friends and family, but never, ever would I live there again.
I am glad you seem to like it though...good luck.

Saundra, I will say that the crime has kind of gotten out of hand. The crime has dwindled down though.

I will say this though, Portage really is no different that any other city of the same size when it comes to crime. There is some foes here, but other than that we seem to have a clean little town. The city is trying to kink out the bad parts and make things original. I never really lived in Portage. I was born in '88 and lived there from 88-94. We lived right on the Wisconsin river over by Pauquette park. Then we bought a new home in Pacific off of County "P" heading torwards Pardeeville. That's where I got the sunset picture was near our home. Then 2 yrs. ago I moved to the North side of Portage. I try to make the best of it here. I must say though we do have some breathtaking views here.

I am curious, what kind of "crime" in Portage? And done by whom? I know of that awful case last year or so that made the national news (child/tortured killed)
