Went out for a long walk today, awesome, snow is really melting away! Yesterday was finally able to get the ice off the end of my driveway!

I got my sticker for the state parks so can't wait to do some exploring, the one here is still really icey.

It has been great the last few days. I even took my bicycle out for a quick ride yesterday. The snow is melting fast.

It is with a mixture of joy and embarassment that I announce we FINALLY got our outdoor Christmas decorations taken down and put away today. Our traditional "undecorating day" is always New Year's Day, but at that point this year, the yard was so deep in snow that we couldn't get to where we had put up lights, and the light strings themselves were buried in snow as well.

Today, though, it's sunny and about mid-40's in Madison, the piles of snow have shrunk to the point that I can actually see down the street when I back out of my driveway, and the snow cover in the yard is to the point where it's not over the tops of my boots any more. Woo-hoo! We got out and took down all the bells, candy-canes, light strings and other assorted stuff, packed it up and put it back in the garage, and the front of the house looks downright nekkid now.

You know, this year I thought I'd be cagey, and when we had a nice warm spell the weekend before Thanksgiving, I got out there and put up all the outdoor decorations while it was still relatively temperate. In fact, it was so nice that weekend that I went all out, and put up more lights than we usually do, even hanging them around the front windows. I was feeling pretty smug during that snowy December, because we beat the snows this year. But then the snowy December was followed by a snowy January, which was followed by an even snowier February, and now here we are on March 15 taking down Christmas decorations. I may rethink that approach this coming year....

And in one final note, when I was taking down the lights around the dining room window, I saw a real, honest-to-goodness sign that spring may finally be approaching: there's one tulip sprout and one hyacinth sprout in my front garden bed!!! I was so happy to see those tiny sprigs of green that I just laughed for joy. We usually have several dozen hyacinths blooming by Easter each year, and while I know that won't happen this year, at least there's still life under the snowbanks.

Here's wishing you all a joyful spring!

That's exciting, real signs of spring! I have alot of stuff all along the west and south sides of the house so I can't wait to see all what comes up, hopefully alot! Moving in late Sept., I didn't pay too much attention to the flower beds but my neighbor says the previous owner had alot of stuff.

Our neighbor is making maple syrup. They brought us some today. Yum! I still can't believe how friendly everyone is. No one out east would have shared. They were so excited to have us sample it.
I can't wait to do some more exploring of this wonerful state!
