As somebody that has been living in Janesville for about 7 months, and hopefully only for 5 more, I can attest to this. Not necessarily discrimination against gay people or any ethnic minority in particular. It's more the fact that people are just unfriendly in general, in a way I've never seen anyplace else I have lived. I've lived in Rockford, a short drive away, and yet even there the people are much friendlier. Can't drive down the road here without someone tailgating you or cutting you off. People won't hold doors for you walking into a store. Off-topic on driving here, their roads are horribly laid out. But yes, just inconsiderate people in general.
The town itself is decent, lots of nice parks and a good number of local restaurants, shops, and other businesses. Just not a fan of the residents.

I'm very curious...are you FROM Wisconsin or Illinois? I'm from Illinois and am fine UNTIL my license plates are spotted.
I don't think Wisconsinites are inherintly MEAN but I experienced this and thought it coincidental due to the long term rivalry between the Packers and the Bears.
Just curious if you still have Illinois plates (you mention Rockford, that's why I ask).

what does it matter? Move where you gotta move and if they give you any issues punch em in the face. In general most people don't care as long as you're acting considerate... if your wife is going around letting the kid scream at the top of their lungs without disciplining them you might get some attention, but so would a white soccer mom.
Personally I can handle aloof residents, they are no big deal, lol. I can open my own door.
