Can someone that lives near or in the Dells tell me why the crime is so high? I am assuming it's tourist season related, etc.

We are debating on buying a home near and I am concerned about this. Is there a place where I can get accurate information on crime information?

Where did you get the information that "crime is so high"? What makes you think that information is not accurate? The City-Data table for crime shows fairly high assaults, burglaries, and theft, all fairly common to high tourism and transient populations.

Tons of tourists. Tons of young people. Of course there is going to be crime. Anytime you have retail (malls, etc) there is more crime reports.

I honestly doubt that crime has a significant effect on any given resident of the Dells relative to all the other factors involved in life sustainability. It's all relative to your baseline and although I haven't looked up the statistics it does not sound like a place where crime would be significant.

You better hope you aren't near when the Great Wolf Gangstas and the Chula Vista Cholos cross paths cuz there's gonna be a big ol' rumble.
