Default Green Bay condos

Kelly5017,
If you're talking about the condos by the river near the museum (which I believe you are) I can't say I know about the condos but that's definitely not a great area to live. It's near broadway and across from the housing allowance office which the county/city (whoever owns it) has let deteriorate considerably. Although they keep trying to revitalize the "Broadway Area" it hasn't really panned out. If you need or want be near the downtown area I guess it's not the worst place, but it definely isn't the best. There's alot of crime downtown at night and on Broadway. Weird stuff goes on and strange bars, at least for the most part. As far as the daytime it's probably alright, well, kinda. I mean safer, at least. Green Bay's downtown mall bites. I'd go somewhere else. DePere is a much nicer place to live than Green Bay, especially the east side of DePere. All of Green Bay's suburbs are safer than the city itself but isn't that anywhere. My perpective of the suburbs: Howard is redneck and racist. Ashwaubenon is better, but noisier. Allouez is good. East side of Green Bay is generally better than the west but you have to go the outskirts there again. Bellevue is good and bad, don't drink the water. West side is selective, move to an area there only after you know Green Bay. The west side has the largest concentration of sex offenders in apt. and housing west of Military Ave. between Dousman and West Mason St. Not a fan of Green Bay. Apartments near Wal-mart east not good. Any of them, even the newer ones. Birchwood apt.(west side) had a stalker/rapist running around there for a while. Well, hope that helps.. Have a good one.

Default i agree

I have to agree with notthere. I live in the east side of DePere (Ledgeview to be exact) and I'd have to say I like it the best out of anyplace in the area. Yes Howard to me is rednecky as well. Downtown GB is kind of desolate and ugly. And there is a whole east-side west-side thing going on here. I personally prefer the east-side as it is quieter than the west. Also less chain restaurants and traffic in this area. Where are you moving from? There are new condos downtown West De Pere that are actually pretty nice. You can walk to the restaurants, bars, shops and St. Norbert college in the historic downtown. We checked them out and liked them but opted for a house out in Ledgeview (more room for our son to play). If you have kids, the schools of De Pere are great.

g---

First off, there is no mall downtown GB, it's been vacant for years, maybe thats why you don't like it. i'm looking at it as i post.
Secondly, the westside is quieter than the east side because of all the tree lined streets and less main roads.

I've lived in Green Bay for 10 years--I always feel safe. I moved here from Minneapolis, and all this crap about rapes and violence that someone is talking about only happens to stupid people that hang in that type of crowd; obviously just don't be dumb and hang out in shady parts of town or shady people (which goes for anyone in any city). It would only make sense to live downtown if you're going to work there or want to get drunk every weekend. If you like being closer to what's going on, live on the west side, I personally prefer the east side, a little quieter. It would only make sense to live in De Pere if it is near your work, otherwise you would have to do a lot of driving. Not sure where you are moving from, but even the "bad" apartments here would be considered somewhat decent in Minneapolis, and it's pretty cheap to live here.

And, by the way, I used to work at the Housing Allowance Office--"Integrated Community Services" and it is just a plain building, no deterioration; and actually Broadway is really cleaned up and pretty nice now. There will be no problems if you chose to live there. And I lived in the apartments near the east-side Wal-Mart, they were very nice and I would move back in a heartbeat. Seems like everyone in De Pere hates Green Bay, you will soon find out!

Default yeah right

znamis are you kidding????????? you think rape and violence only happens to idiots who hang out in the wrong crowd? that is absurd. violence can strike anyone anytime. also people can get raped in good areas as well as bad areas i suppose you think that a teenager who was date raped is an idiot too. wake up!!!!!!!
