My brother's house in Milwaukee is about the same size as ours. Our taxes here are $1500, his are almost $4,000 for the same size house/land. Even if a little OT, UW Badgers, I think your post is DEAD-ON to one of my primary beefs with the greater Milwaukee area too. Very similar to how I feel, in fact, your quote could've been said by me.

I am not trying to turn this into a negative thread in the least, and I know overall your post was very positive towards Wisconsin...I just thought I would let you know there are others out there that feel this same way and man, I could've stated this verbatim almost about one of my biggest dislikes.

-I am not a huge Madison fan but I would probably let it sit put there. Having said that, if it weren't Madison, then clearly to Milwaukee.

It's OK. Sometimes it drives me crazy but it's nice.

No, I was born in Burr Ridge, Illinois

My dad is from Wisconsin and my family has roots in the area that go to the 1840s. I spent half my life going to Wisconsin and always missing it when I left. So yes, I love living here.

Baraboo

The Baraboo Hills/ Devil's Lake or North Woods

7) What do you like least about the state?
No ethnic food that's passable and not much ethnic diversity outside of Milwaukee or Madison.

The people, the vast diversity of landscapes and natural beauty, the open farms and countryside, the high quality of dairy and produce, the Green Bay Packers, the lakes..

9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state?
Devil's Lake

Madison

I love Madison!! I have two aunts and three cousins that live there. It is a beautiful city.

I do not actually live in Wisconsin but in the twin cities. Though I sometimes post on the Wisconsin forum.

Yes, with all of the things to do and the good job market who could not like the twin cities.

Born in La Crosse and glad to get out.

I like Madison, the many communities in Waukesha County. I have always enjoyed the suburban areas of the state.

I enjoy the northwoods. It is nice to get away from the city and have nature surround you.

7) What do you like least about the state?
La Crosse(Despite what other people say, the town is boring if you do not drink), high property taxes, government policy towards bringing back Milwaukee economically.

The people and nature. Despite how much people complain about winter I enjoy the four seasons. Although probably as I get older that will change.

9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state?
Devil's Lake.

10) If you could move somewhere else, where would you like to go?
For far away I would pick Auckland, New Zealand. For a place that is closer I always have wanted to live in the twin cities.

To run for state office and push for changes in metrowide policies.

Madison just would not be the same, it is the best place for the state capital.

Yeah, it's great. But now that I'm looking to buy my first house I'm going to have to move to a surrounding town because houses are a lot more expensive in EC compared to the smaller surrounding towns.

Ummmm.... I guess I like where I am now.

6) Whats your favorite region of the state?
Northwoods. I like living in EC, but there are a lot of times I long for a smaller city. If my job wasn't here, I'd probably not live here but rather a small town.

7) What do you like least about the state?
Not a lot, no I lie. With looking at buying a house, the taxes and the humidity in the summer. Also living where I do I feel like I live more in MN rather than WI sometimes because the only big city by us is the Cities.

I could never live somewhere where there aren't 4 very different seasons. Also I love that when I was growing up I could drive 10 min in any direction and be in the country.

9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state?
Irvine Park in Chippewa, tons of great memories.

Internationally? London, went there about 5 years ago for about a week and a half and I had to be dragged to the airport to come home.
Closer to home? Alaska, Oregon, Washington, or Canada

To be happy and very few regrets.

Relocated here very intentionally after 18 years spent in S. Texas. Love it!

Aside from Madison, I like La Crosse, Spring Green, and Milwaukee when I want a change of pace.

Door County.

Mosquitoes!

The beauty, the courtesy of (most) residents, the amazing variety of things to do, the changing seasons, and the history.

1) Where in WI do you currently live? Currently live on Chicago's North Shore, but grew up in a small town in NW Illinois about 20 miles from the WI border. Half of my relatives live in SW WI and the other half live in NW IL (you can imagine the Bears/Packers rivalries!). I have a home in the Baraboo area.

2) Do you like it there?
I love it. We're on a lake and we have a pretty view of the water and rock formations and it's completely relaxing. It's beautiful in the winter as well.

3) Were you born in WI? If so, where?
No. Born and raised in Northwestern IL.

4) If born out of state, how/why did you end up here. Do you like living here?
Don't live there, though I love WI.

5) Whats your favorite city/town in the state?
I haven't seen enough of WI to have a favorite, but I do like Spring Green, Baraboo, Milwaukee, Madison, Fort Atkinson, Cambridge. I'd like to explore more of the northern half of the state.

6) Whats your favorite region of the state?
I like the Devil's Lake area with the rolling hills and rock formations and dairy farms. I'm sure I'd love the northwoods area with all of the forests.

7) What do you like least about the state?
As a year round visitor, I can't think of anything I don't like, except maybe the abundance of mosquitos this year.

8) What do you like most about the state?
The diversity of the landscape, friendly people, endless recreational opportunities, and low cost of goods and services compared to where I live.

9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state?
I love Devil's Lake. I like the state park in Door County as well. When I was a kid I remember going to Governor Dodge S.P. and having a great time camping, but I haven't been there in 30 years.

10) If you could move somewhere else, where would you like to go?
I'm not sure where I'd move. It would depend upon whether or not my kids were grown. Right now, we're so ensconced in our community in Chicago I haven't really thought about elsewhere.

11) What's a major life goal for you? To raise two upstanding young men.
