I haven't been to all of them, so can't say, but for the ones I've been too, I like Spooner, Shell Lake area.

The hilly areas around Prairie Farm, Eau Claire and south of there.

No mountains. High taxes. High home prices.

2) Do you like it there? I miss the northwoods! I miss cold air! I miss cold lakes!

4) If born out of state, how/why did you end up here. Do you like living here? I just figured out the other day that I am at least a 6th or 7th generation Wisconsinite! We moved back when I was 8 mo.
5) Whats your favorite city/town in the state? Hmm... that is hard. For "city life," I like Appleton and Madison.
6) Whats your favorite region of the state? Definitely the NW region! I love the northwoods and the western side is less used then the central/east side, it seems. I love all along Lake Superior, and love the woods from Rusk County (where my family is originallly from) all the way to the shore.
7) What do you like least about the state? I honestly can't think of anything. I guess the depressed economy in the northern areas. Annoying cabin people. I really can't believe people here don't like the housing prices. You should see some cities' housing market!!! So... see the next question.
8) What do you like most about the state? I love cold, clear lakes; empty stretches of Lake Superior; hiking in the woods and being all alone; Autumn--the leaves, the cool crispness in the air; the woods in late fall when all the leaves have fallen and the woods are filled with tall, gray sentinals; hiking in the woods in winter when its even less people are there, listening to the hush; the greenness in Spring/early summer; county fairs, 4-H, AppleFest in Bayfield, the Black Cat Cafe and the Daily Bread in Ashland, Sai Ram in Appleton; how we could actualy afford to live there and buy a decent hose; how many great people are from Wisconsin or have ties--John Muir, Aldo Leopold, Sigurd Olson--just to name a very few; that Wisconsin has a legacy of responsible land ethics. Obviously, I could go on.
9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state? Okay, this question makes me realize that I haven't frequented too many state parks. I mostly hike trails that cover Federal/county/state(nonspecified use)/private lands.
10) If you could move somewhere else, where would you like to go? I want to be in NE MN, Northern Wisconsin, or the UP.
11) What's a major life goal for you? I have too many. I suppose the main focus right now is to stop moving so much, and to try very hard to appreciate the high desert.

13) If you could move the Capital of Wisconsin to a different city, where? It would make more sense to have it a little more in the center, but then again, the same thing could be said for the national capital. But it works well in Madison and I couldn't imagine it anywhere else.

Madison is perfect as the capitol. My great, great, great grandfather, William Sterling, was one of the first settlers there. My family's roots in Wisconsin are deep.

Seems like I haven't done this one yet, so here goes:
1) Where in WI do you currently live? Region or city, doesnt matter. Mequon, a northern suburb in the Milwaukee metro area.
2) Do you like it there? Yes, I like having space, birds, and deer around, and the price of my condo was a steal.
3) Were you born in WI? If so, where? I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area; I moved to WI in 2001.
4) If born out of state, how/why did you end up here. Do you like living here? I came here for a job; my previous job was in Alabama. I do like living here, though I miss things about other places I've lived in.
5) Whats your favorite city/town in the state? My favorite city is Milwaukee, hands down. My favorite small city (so far) is Stevens Point.
6) Whats your favorite region of the state? I haven't been to all regions of the state, but so far I really love the St. Croix and Mississippi River areas, and I also love central Wisconsin for the sandhill cranes and cranberry bogs.
7) What do you like least about the state? I dislike the insular and reactionary nature of some of the people and communities here. I'm also not fond of mosquitoes.
8) What do you like most about the state? The diversity of flora and fauna (esp. birds); Milwaukee's cultural diversity; the somewhat liberal tendencies of parts of the state; the autumn weather and culture.
9) Whats your favorite state park/recreation area in the state? I don't know too many places, but I've enjoyed Horicon Marsh and the St. Croix area parks (such as Interstate) a great deal.
10) If you could move somewhere else, where would you like to go? Buffalo, NY, to be with my partner. Other than that: Aix-en-Provence, France, or maybe Galicia, Spain.
11) What's a major life goal for you? After I retire (in my 50s or 60s) I want to pursue a second college degree in a field that's quite different from my first college degree.

I agree. I lived in Tacoma Washington last summer & I remember my first morning going for a run. I saw an average looking house with a small yard with a for sale sign. Out of curiosity I checked the price & was shocked to see $389 k. Same house would probably go for about 200k cheaper in Madison. That summer I saw on the news the average house for a home in Seattle was $500k. I got a kick out of hearing the California folks rave about the cheap cost of housing in Seattle.
It made me appreciate the midwest all the more.

2.) Do you like it there? I Love the city i visit chicago and milwaukee but milwaukee much more, so easy to get too, clean, and vibrant. Plus we own a bar on the Eastside on north ave!

4.) If born out of state, how/why did you end up here. Do you like living here? Yes, visit during Summerfest always, all year round, packer/bucks/brewers games. The Lakefront is a place i and my friends even come up from IL to visit on nice days only 50min drive to the city!

6) Whats your favorite region of the state? Wisconsin is surprisingly diverse in Geography it has so much going for it. I love the Lakeside from Milwaukee to Door county in the north along the highway is sweet rolling farms and then the "ocean" of lake michigan in the backround! The western section (Lacrosse) with the hills and rock filled plateus and Madison/The Dells with the Ismuths in madison and the beauty of nature in the dells, outside the tourist stuff of course!
7) What do you like least about the state? The perception from the outside to some but i think wisconsin is well known postively overall. High taxes in Milwaukee!
8) What do you like most about the state? All of the above on question 6 plus the Packers! I like it all much of my family lives here and many fond memories!

10) If you could move somewhere else, where would you like to go? Move to Wisconsin full time! Otherwise back to San Diego i love California, and some parts of Arizona Fountain Hills/ Scottsdale i found cool when at the superbowl past year. Sanibel, Florida/ Clearwater, FL/ Naples are amazing!

The long winters, the lack of non natives like myself and the public schools, which are a bit over rated in my opinion.
