Thumbs up Heading to Oshkosh soon

I'll be moving up to the Oshkosh - Appleton area in a few weeks for work and would appreciate any tips on where to find a place to live. I'm a single guy with no kids and want a nice quiet place where adults live. No college student hangouts please! Is Appleton better or Oshkosh? I'm completely ignorant of Wisconsin outside of the Packers and That 70's Show. Yeah, I know, it's pathetic....Thanks for any help you may offer

appleton is about 20 min n. on hwy 41. i live in oshkosh and don't mind it. appleton has got the fox river mall and every buisness you can think of...the population is about the same in each city(70,000?)oshkosh is more laid back and a little less ghetto.appleton has more cultured resturants and such.there are other citys in between these two though all located right on the lake. theres not to much to do around here and the winters are brutal.and yes....everybody loves the packers...pretty anoying.

Post Oshkosh

I'm originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, and my finance used to travel to Oshkosh ever 2 years with his parents on vacation to the air show. He said he had a blast, but for those who live in the city, and do not like the sounds of airplanes, may get annoyed. He said he loved the city though, the tempertures were wonderful. (except the one year he said it got to 100 which I remember is rare in Wisconsin) He's never experienced a Wisconsin winter though. Tee hee!

I live in Neenah.. its 10 minutes north or Oshkosh and 10 minutes south of Appleton. It is a very quite nice city if you wanted to live there.. rent is very affordable as well. I lived in Oshkosh for a year and I hate the city. It is dirty and loud. If I were you, I would live in Neenah or Appleton. oh and Neenah is right on lake winnebago with nice parks and a nice downtown. I could show you around town if you would like.

Tulsa has gone down the toilet in a big way. Crime has exploded, companies are leaving and the school system is in the dumpster. College grads need not remain. The only industries left are call centers and welding.

Default appleton

i've lived in wis. my entire life and so far i really like appleton. i've lived in oshkosh for a few years and hated it. people are very rude. and theres nothing to do. appleton's got things to do, but i work nights so for me just living someplace nice and quiet is my thing. plus the cops in oshkosh are asses, same with neenah. menasha isnt too bad. but the outskirts is the way to go.

Default Appleton

I would definitely go with Appleton. Nicer town, less college atmosphere than Oshkosh, closer to a bigger city (Green Bay), etc.

Considering moving to Neenah, currently living in Central Texas for past two years, before that was in Lacrosse area of Wisconsin, Can someone tell me is Neenah a good place for kids, will have two boys in high school by then, need a safe place where they feel comfortable, and can settle into life in Wisconsin again!

What in the world are you talking about? Oshkosh, while not really ghetto, is 10x more ghetto than Appleton. Central Appleton doesn't have tons of dilapidated houses like central Oshkosh does. I actually like both cities and feel Oshkosh is underrated, but to say Oshkosh is less ghetto than Appleton is ludicrous. Appleton, Neenah, Kimberly, and Darboy are the nicest places in the Fox Vally hands down. To say otherwise is a lie.
