Green Bay/Door County Question
Hello! I am planning a trip this June with my family of 5 - three kids that are 10, 15 and 17. We're driving up from Texas and were looking for suggestions for places to stay for 2 nights. My ten year old is probably the biggest Packers fan in Texas (even has his bedroom painted half green and half gold!). He wants to see Lambeau pretty badly. We were considering using Door County as kind of a base if that seems feasible. We'll probably spend half a day or so in GB and the rest on the peninsula...Do you all think that would work or is it too far to travel? Any ideas would be welcomed!

Door County as a base and travelling to Green Bay is a great idea. You will have to check out the Packer Hall of Fame and I think they do tours of Lambeau. If you were here later then you can watch training camp too. We took our kids quite a few times. But June is too early for camp.
In Door County it is nice to take the ferry over to Washington Island.

I lived in Door County and still have family residing there. I agree wholeheartedly with ekg56. There is plenty to do on the peninsula and don't forget Brett Favre's Steakhouse in Green Bay. Do take the ferry from Gills Rock to Washington Island--plan a whole day.

I agree make sure to do the Lambeau Field tour! Its AWESOME and even when I lived up there my family and I still took it just for the fun of it! We're making the same trip from VA to WI the end of June to spend time with my family and be up there for the fourth. Cant wait to make the trip back! WI is beautiful in summer and we're also going to be heading to Door County! I'm just sad we're going to be too early for cherry season. That's my favorite! Have a safe trip and enjoy Wisconsin!

We're looking very forward to the trip. Not having been there before, our impression of Wisconsin is that it's beautiful and the people are friendly. We'll see...
Does anyone know of a place called Ephraim Shores? That's one of the places we're considering staying. We still need suggestions if anyone has any!

Hi.
I've stayed at the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor... loved it every single time. Door County is a great place. You must try a fish boil while you're there. Also, take a peek at Peninsula State Park, which is in Fish Creek, about 10-15 minutes away from Egg Harbor.

Ephraim is a small but VERY busy place, (as is most of Door in summer/fall) but there is a constant parade of cars going by Ephraim shores most of the day, and the road seperates you from the water. Not that its a zooming hi way, but I usually recommend "LANDMARK" resort in Egg Harbor for family.Nice condos, Outdoor as well as Indoor pools in case of a rain day, nice views, quiet,(though large),a view restaraunt/bar,bikes,tennis,game room, and its next to a golf course. You can also walk to town, but you have to walk uphill back.

Thanks so much! I just contacted the Landmark by email. We'll see what they can do for us. What do you know about Fish Creek? There's a place called the Main St. Motel that looks clean and maybe workable as well.

Fish Creek, very cute, quaint and is probably the most popular town, lots of hustle and bustle.larger then Egg or Ephraim, with bars, restaraunts, a large marina and shopshopshops. The hotel is older, neat, clean and you are in the middle of things. A little too congested for me, but different strokes. Hopefully, your weather will be great and you wont be in your room much anyway. Hope you have a great time.

Fish Creek and Sister Bay are my fave towns in Door County, be sure to check them out. I think Fish Creek is the best of all, so much to do there. Be sure to try "Not Licked Yet" and get one of their "concrete shakes". The malt is so thick that they hand it to you upside down. Good stuff. But if I were you, Id take a sailboat tour out onto Lake Michigan, its gorgeous. Peninsula State Park (as someone mentioned) is beautiful too, lots of great bike trails and hidden beaches, etc.
