Think Last Saturday or Maybe Sunday in April canoe race on the Jump River in Taylor County to Sheldon in Rusk county. 10 miles of good river have both fast and slow waters and many classes to run in. I used to do it all the time til wrecked shoulder and cannot race no more. Entry was like 10 a canoe and only got free drink and small trophy or ribbon but fun. The Flambeau in Rusk county is a canoeist favorite and some kayak it also as has some places must portage around and can make a 2 day trip if like.
Sure others got great ideas of some also but if interested in race will get exact date and time for you.My cousin borrowing my canoe to go.

canoeing
We go every year to the Kickapoo river near Ontario, WI, but normally tubing (sp?) not canoeing. But they also offer canoeing too. Though I have heard the Wolf and Apple rivers farther north are great too. Lots of groups get together and make a weekend of it. Fill up the coolers and hope for a hot day so when you get tipped it isn't frigid!

I would say the Fox River in Columbia and Marquette counties. It goes through some breathtaking landscapes.

Wyalusiing State Park is situated at the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. You can canoe on the backwaters of the Mississippi.

Where are you located TT? What time of year do you want to head out? Are you looking for a comfortable little paddle? Or a safe several hour float? Or how about some class IV rapids?

We took our son and paddled along the Flambeau River last weekend. It was a lot of fun and a great experience.
