Monroe
Hi, I could not find much info on the area, my wife's checking out a position and we are looking for people with knowledge of the area to tell us something about it. Thank you.

Thank you andy1987. We did look at the Monroe stats on this website. We were interested to hear from those who actually live/lived in Monroe or nearby.

Monroe is about 30 miles south of Verona. You would take HWY 69 all the way. It isn't a bad road and would take about 45 minutes on average. I do not live in Monroe but have spent quite a lot of time there and have always liked it. It is, for the most part, a clean, well maintained town with friendly people. Another town that I REALLY like a lot, and that is about half way between Monroe and Verona, is New Glarus. Lovely small town with a lot of interesting things to see and do.

I grew up in Green County. It was a nice friendly place but you may find people a bit closed minded about politics or any other "taboo" subjects.
Monroe is cheaper than northern Green County now due to Dane County commuters moving into the area and driving up prices.

I lived there for 15 years, and still have good friends who live there now. When I lived there, it was virtually crime free, a really nice "small town feel". Now, there are a lot of Latinos that are living there, and according to what my friends tell me, they are the only "gang" component there. Of course not all Latinos are in gangs, so don't start, but you get my drift. New Glarus is very nice, though, still.
