The economy varies from city to city really. I think as a whole, the states economy isn't to far off. The weather? Well we have beautiful summers, the fall is a dream come true and winter is just winter. The schools in Wisconsin are some of the highest rated in the country. The communities in Wisconsin have vast differences. Madison is all out a college town with a very liberal environment. Milwaukee is laid back with some beautiful parks and some awesome sports teams, "Brewers ." I can't really speak for any other towns. All in all Wisconsin is a great place to raise a family, make memories and enjoy life. Our crime rates here are fairly low.

in general
people drink to much and bum around to much. The schools are not nearly as good as is talked about and is used as a cruch to make people feel things are ok with the young ones. Property taxes are high, the weather is bad, and the economy is in a recession. other than that its ok

Simple... HOME...
I desperately miss it and want to get back. We've only been away 4 years, but because of where we live now, it seems like forever.

Well said! I agree whole-heartedly. No where is "Perfect" you just have to take in your surroundings.

As a new resident, overall I think Wisconsin is a great state, has alot to offer and I'm very happy here.
Weather is just weather no matter where you live, you could have excessive rain, all cloudy days, extreme heat, but you make the best of it and decide if it rules your ability to be happy. Personally I have to live where there are 4 distinct seasons, none of this warm all the time.
Economy is a tough call right now no matter what state, what city, some areas are worse than others. Communities can vary a great deal, too alot is personal perception and individual needs. The area I'm in is very open, friendly, welcoming, people here are great.
Reading some posts you'll find alot of negative comments on some of the communities. Me being perpetually upbeat, I'd have to witness it in person before I'd believe it.

We have lived in quite a few places and love living in WI. We find the taxes are lower. Schools are good. Great ACT scores and lots of college prep classes. Caring teachers.
Great scenery.
Economy is tough everywhere. Jobs are still good here and employers are hiring.
There is not perfect place but WI fits our family just fine. Some people like to complain and I usually only skim there posts.
I tilled my garden last week and plan on putting in peas, lettuce and radishes this week.

Great place to raise our kids. Weather is always interesting. Taxes are bearable and since the schools are good I can justify paying higher taxes. Economy is doing OK. Gas prices are high but that is everywhere. Job market seems to be OK still. I see lots of places hiring.
Every place has its negative people but I chose not to dwell on them.
Love the lakes and the pines. Apple trees and cherry trees are getting ready to bud and my daffodils are blooming like mad.

Talk about fouling your own nest. You realize that you have just done nothing but complain. People take little about Wisconsin from your post, more likely they will form opinions about you.
