I grew up around Eau Claire. Wisconsin schools are consistantly in the top 5-10 for Sat scores every year. Iowa and Minnesota are in the mix too. My dad was a school teacher in the E.C. schools for 35 years. I think the E.C. school district is still the top paying school district in Wisconsin for Salaries. Which side of town you want to live on will determine the school your kids go to. South side is Memorial High School mostly white collar kids because it is in the newer part of E.C. North is mostly blue collar kids because it is in the older part of E.C. Altoona which is practiacally Eau Claire has smaller class sizes than both of the Eau Claire High Schools. Personally I would send my kids to Memorial or Altoona.

If you're willing to live 15 min from Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls has an great public school system. Scores are always high and they have lots of programs for kids after school (sports, music is pretty big here and getting bigger every year, drama programs are starting to catch on too.)
