Here's what I have found to be the truth (as I see it, of course):
Kenosha (only town I've lived in):
1. Plauged with alcoholics and drunk drivers.
2. Taxes are retarded. I pay twice what we did in MD for half the house.
3. Where are the snowplows? I live right downtown, and they don't even plow our street!
4. Told the people were "Nice, mid-western" folk. I guess that means people who mistreat their children, don't take care of their house/lawn, drink and do drugs and create a general nuisance, and have the cops over for a few laughs 2 or 3 times a week.
5. Cops? We called them because on the fourth of July our neighbors party spilled over into our yard, and there were 6 drunk guys fighting in my back yard. I was told by the 911 DISPATCHER that the cops were, and I QUOTE, "too busy to handle it".
6. The roads are the worst in the United States. Case closed.
7. It is impossible to conduct any type of business transaction during deer season or a Packers game.
8. Betting on whether or not your flight will actually leave Milwaukee between November and March should be a new gambling business.
I travel all over the US for work, and I've been to a LOT of places. Wisconsin (at least the SE corner) sucks. Fortunately, we've been paroled! I told my boss that either the company would move me away from here, or I would find another employer. They agreed, and we're moving this summer.
I'm glad the people here who like this area are happy here. But for anyone who is thinking of relocating, please do a lot more research than I did and save youself a lot of time and money. This state and it's real estate people will do whatever they can to suck you into paying their socialist-level taxes, and you won't get a bit of service out of them.
One more thing: Don't eat sushi in Wisconsin. Trust me.

You must live in Kenosha's hood or something. Maybe you just picked the wrong Wisconsin city to live in. I live in West Allis which is right in Milwaukee County and I never have any of those problems you listed.
I don't agree about the roads, they're worse in IL.
The airport was closed maybe twice this winter, not five months.
Taxes are high, I'll give you that.
No business gets done during deer or Packer season? That sounds like a stereotyped cliche.
Oh, we hate sushi in Wisconsin & are damn proud of it

Now that is not true at all, I love sushi & so do alot of people I know. You just have to know where to go, I doubt they would have good sushi places in Kenosha/Racine but here in Milwaukee there's quite a few places to go: Ichiban, Nankusa, Izumi's-anyway, Wanderlust just try it, I guarantee once you give it a chance & get GOOD fresh sushi, you'll love it

Hmm, I'm not sure about that. I don't eat fish because I don't like it, especially raw fish. I take fish oil capsules and that's about the extent of my fish intake.

Berries, you are not making a lot of sense lately. Everything ok up there? In the past I know you have made some nice pleasant posts, and I (and we) look forward to more of them.

I thought you said you wanted to move to Missouri? Are you just tired of living in the northwoods?

look, I am bitter about what has happened to my state over the last 40 years. We have become a "tourist" state, which is an unsustainable economy........It is not the way to live. You need to have real jobs that make stuff...not just serving someone a burger and renting them a room so they can feel that they are outdoorsy. This is what we have done to our state and it is a disservice no matter how you justify it
