Josh, when are you going to be legal? We should have a CD beer and brat gathering for you.

this is typical of Wisconsin, as soon as somebody says something that's true, albeit negative, you get jumped on.
The sad truth is the reaction that poster has gotten is typical, if you don't fit into the norms don't bother as people here are very inflexible and scared of change. They are stuck in a pattern and don't see it.

Badger, I see nothing wrong with what I or others have said on the forum. This is just like me moving to lets say California and going on there forums and saying everyone likes to surf,go to the beach and never think about any other states besides there own. I think that Indigo does need to open his or her eyes and see the real beauty that lies within the states beautiful cities and regions.
Just because they had a bad dining experience or didn't like the food doesn't mean every restaurant is bad.

gallon,
Ehhhh, I'm only 19. I turn 20 on August 12 though. So not till August 12,2009. I'm not big on beer but I'll go for a brat.lol I haven't really broadened my horizons yet when it comes to alcoholic beverages. I guess I will have to see what I like. I could probably try one of Drovers recommended microbreweries.

Interesting. People jumped on Indigo because of his/her generalizations...yet here you are, defending Indigo by making generalizations.

I am sorry but I am going to have to disagree with you Badger. Indigo came in here and had not one single nice thing to say about us, it was all badmouthing. I am not sure I could fully agree with any of his complaints, yet you seem to accept them, without knowing any of the specifics.
As for your commentary about our being inflexible and scared of change and stuck in patterns, I think you are presenting great drama. Hmmm.
One thing I have learned in my life is that when people are so negative, it is because they have issues. You do them no favors by playing along. In the end, the kindest thing you can do is to give them a good slap across the face, and a shout to 'snap out of it.'
In a way, calling people out on their behavior is a form of intervention, or tough love.

I seem to be entering way too many state forums these days, because of the many states we have lived in and checking at many states we could end up moving to in the near future. Gallon's original response to Indigo is very, very typical in all the state forums I have visited. Go ahead, take a lookie... its just that no one likes people totally dissing them. On the whole, the Wisconsin forum seems pretty even keeled most of the time. Even this time is nothing extreme--if you want to see some really enraged posts, go to the Minnesota thread regarding a very unhappy NYer.

Hi
I just found this forum, and I am considering a move to Wisconsin, but don't know the places to do the research. I lived in Appleton, LOTS of years ago! I presently live in a city in Oregon that is very expensive, doesn't have much to do, is hard to find a job in and just does not feel like home. I would like to get personal opinions (glad I found this page) but also find other sources. I am hoping to live in a less expensive place, I love the Great Lakes (used to live in Upstate NY as well) and have pretty liberal views, so a totally conservative town would be difficult. What about the small towns along the lake or Door County? And more views on the Green Bay/Appleton comparison. Thanks.
