Southwestern Wisconsin and the Ocooch Mountains
I remember a few years ago I was browsing at my local library and seen something about the Ocooch Mountains in Wisconsin. I thought, Mountains in Wisconsin? I found a ton of results when I googled "Ocooch Mountain area." I just thought this was interesting. I know alot of people complain about how flat Wisconsin is but they don't even know there is the Ocooch Mountains. Now I don't know if this geoprahic area is technically considered mountains but I'd like to consider them Mountains. I just wondered if anyone else has heard of this area?
Just something to think about.
Little fact: The word “Ocooch” translates as “where one goes to get nourishment.”

I have. It's one of my favorite areas of Wisconsin. The area is very scenic and although the mountains don't compare to large ranges elsewhere, they seem to fit the definition of mountains (which are loosely defined).
Getting off of the beaten path in that area is the most scenic of all. There are several areas between La Crosse and Dodgeville, that are really beautiful. The route I'd usually take would take me through/near Richland Center, then south to Dodgeville via Spring Green. Leaving the main highway and venturing out on the county roads is much more entertaining, because they traverse the valleys in tighter quarters, and provide great views.

I'm not supposed to comment because I've lived in Wisconsin less than a year but I do enjoy that area!
I just drove to see my sister in Iowa and love the area west of Madison all the way to the Mississippi. Gorgeous scenery, great hills and views, an absolutely beautiful area of Wisconsin!

I believe the Ocooch Mountains are mainly in the Richland Center area. They're really almost like real mountains. Even though they don't quite reach similar elevations of the Appalachian Mt.s or the Rockys. I still like saying we have mountains in Wisconsin just like Michigan has the Porcupine MT.s.

I'm going to have to look this up. I never heard of the Ocooch Mountains. Who knew I lived in a mountain state?!
As far as people saying WI is flat - they haven't seen WI! The bluffs and hills in portions of the state are breathtaking. If you want flat, drive through Nebraska (no slam on Nebraska I just happen to think driving I80 is the flattest drive on earth)
