There are some things to do in both towns, true, but compared to CA cities, the social scene will likely seem very homogeneous (the same old thing for most people - beer, beer, and more beer).

I'm an Eau Claire business school grad. Madison is the best in the state, but I think EC is pretty good too.

School anywhere is what you make of it. You can learn a lot anywhere or you can be a drunk anywhere.

I can't really compare EC to LaCrosse because I don't know anyone who has been to Lax business school. I do know LaCrosse is best known for physical therapy and those types of majors. EC is probably best known for the nursing school, but again, the business school is no slouch. Good luck!

UWL is a great school and we do have a pretty good business program. I don't know much about Eau Claire, but they are also a pretty good school, so I would assume it is decent. I love the friendly atmosphere and students in La Crosse! There are two universities and one technical college here, so it is definitely a college town, however, contrary to popular belief, there ar eother things to do in the city of La Crosse besides party and drink. We have great sports teams that you can watch and beautiful wildlife. UWL is a very active campus and people are always outside playing pick-up games of sports or just hanging out. You also mentioned identifying with international students. UWL has an exceptional international student body (with almost 500 international students out of a total of about 9,000 total students). There are 2 groups on campus that are especially welcoming of people form other cultures: ISO (International Students Organization) LIFE (La Crosse International Friendship Exchange)-promotes the buildings or friendship between resident and international students. I'm in LIFE and I love it! there are always fun things to do and you meet a lot of great people as well as go on trips to places such as haunted houses, bowling, and larger trips such as Madison and Chicago. Your level of involvement is whatever you want to make it. Overall, UWL is a great school. It's my 3rd year here and I love it! check out our website if you have more questions (University of Wisconsin La Crosse) Good Luck and hope this helps!
