You have got to be kidding me. I sure hope this was simply intended to provoke conversation, becuase if you can't find anything to do in Wisconsin, you're in a coma. Skiing (cross-country and downhill), biking, hiking, hunting, fishing, motorboating, waterskiing, sailing, snowmobiling, ATVing, NASCAR races, NHRA events at GLD, Summerfest, Great Taste of the Midwest (one of the biggest beer festivals in the country), performing arts in Madison and Milwaukee, at least some theater and arts in virtually any college town (and there are many in the state), extension programs in same college towns, the best state parks in the Midwest, Packers games, Bucks games, Brewers games, UW sports teams all over the state, minor-league hockey, minor-league baseball (Go Madison Mallards!), Wisconsin Dells, do a state brewery tour, do a state winery tour, visit cranberry country, visit the lightouses, supper clubs (Friday Night Fish Fry!), farmer's markets, fine dining in Madison/Milwaukee.... there's something for everyone in Wisconsin. And those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head without resorting to a tourism brochure. Get outta the house and go do something. Good Lord.

Bikes outnumber cars in this city 3:2, and you see people biking to work almost every day, even in the winter.
I guess you probably live in a small town, and being stereotypical (as you are), you group all of wisconsin into a something its not.
Too bad you can't be in my part of the state, because your stupid stereotype would be SHATTERED.

I've lived in Wisconsin all my life (70years), and have to set the record straight. First, yes, we like brats, beer and friendly conversations in our local pubs. A friendlier bunch of people you won't find anywhere on the planet. We care and converse with each other. We enjoy football, sports of winter and summer (and are outside during these) and the cultural activities the larger cities have to offer. Some of us enjoy being out in 10below weather and 90 plus heat. A Wisconsinite who is your friend, is your FRIEND for life.

Guess what: nearly every state in the Union consists primarily of small towns (or to be more accurate, rural areas). So chances are you'd be bored no matter what state you were in. The funny part is, you technically live in the Chicago metropolitan area, one of the largest in the country, and with another major metropolitan area that starts with the next town north. In other words, you live in a combined metroplex of some 11 million people and you're still bored. One strongly suspects the source of boredom has much more to do with the person than the geographical location.

Kenosha is about 90,000 people, and yes, this is smaller than what I'm used to, but since it is between two major cities, it shouldn't seem that bad. However, I find Kenosha to be a decaying, and yes, rural town. I do think that unless one likes winter sports, the activities are limited. It is absolutely true that I have been to a beautiful park on a nice sunny day with my daughter, and there has not been another soul there except a car or two with someone just sitting inside. I have left so many times for safety reasons. I feel unsafe with nobody around except a man sitting in a car??? This is in the summer!

You know, I raised 4 children in an even smaller city that is also often considered "decaying"....Beloit. I took them to the plays put on by Beloit College and Beloit Community Theatre and Beloit Memorial High. I took them to the Beloit/Janesville Symphony productions. I took them to church and we were involved in many events through the church. I took them fishing and hiking in the many parks....gathering leaves in the fall and flowers in the summer. I took them to the Madison zoo several times a year. I was involved in many city committees and even served on the school board for a few years. I helped the brownies and the cub scouts. I helped coach the school forensic team. We went to movies. And, by the way, I worked full time. Bored? Wow. I wish I had the time to be bored.

A busy lifestyle has nothing to do with location. I did not say that I am a bored person, I said that Wisconsin is boring. How busy my day is or how many responsibilities I have has nothing to do with the fact that there is nothing in the way or recreation. Like I said before, I have tried to take my daughter outside in the summer, to very lovely parks, with swings and slides--not a soul--not a one! I am not making this up. Hard to believe? Yeah, I know! I guess people are indoors at a play or at the cub scout meetings. As far as the zoo, those are not things to do on a weekly basis. Those types of things are fun. I'm not complaining about the Milwaukee Zoo. I'm so proud of Wisconsin for having a decent Zoo.

If it's so boring, then why don't you move somewhere else? No one is forcing you to live here.
