What Region/City is the most under-rated in Wisconsin? (Milwaukee: crime, job market)

What Region/City is the most under-rated in Wisconsin? I think the Dells has to be left out. My personal opinion would be the Driftless Area. I don't think Wisconsin Markets it enough. I think they advertise the Dells too much and the rest of Wisconsin not enough. So what is the most under-rated region?

Almost the whole northern part/indianhead region. Maybe because we do not have the zoo or the brewers,packers, water parks or the population.

Agree, northern Wisconsin. I haven't visited for years, but pretty soon I'm going to head back up to do some camping & running in the deep woods. So peaceful being out just by yourself.

What exactly is the Indianhead Region? Is that include the Rhinelander/Minocqua area? I also think that Ashland isn't quite as popular as it could be.

Indianhead region is more or less the northwestern portion of the state -- Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Hayward, Spooner, Chetek, etc. And judging by the volume of tourism and property values especially of waterfront properties up there, I wouldn't say it's underrated at all.

If you ask Beloit residents, they'll tell you their city is underrated. I will at least give them that their city has a worse reputation than it deserves. If a judge convicted me of a crime and sentenced me to take a job in Rockford, Beloit is where I'd be looking for a home.

Thanks for pointing that out Drover. I've always heard Beloit was a slummy town but I never thought anything of it. I've driven through there tons of times but never stopped.

Getting back to the Indianhead Region, I heard that Eau Claire has great schools, but the job market is meh?

Only reason property values high is the people from down south buy up lake lots no matter the price as to some they are cheap.Job market up here is slower but look find something interested in, but do not expect wages see in Milwaukee and such.

I'd put parts of central Wisconsin as underrated too(particularly Wausau), in addition to agreeing about the northwest/indianhead region. As for Wausau, it's kinda interesting to myself you hear much more about Stevens Point than you do Wausau, despite that I believe(correct me if I'm wrong) that Wausau is bigger.

LaCrosse is a tad bit underrated, too, probably b/c of its isolation from the population centers of the state. Also will say that I don't believe Racine totally deserves the reputation that I often see people describing it to be like, and I'm aware of the problems they're trying to overcome.

I agree on La Crosse. It does seem very isolated from any other decent size population center. I think that may be an advantage for La Crosse though!
