Default fishing in Wausau

Hello All!

My family and I would like to start fishing in the Wausau area (no boat unfortunately). We have small kids, so would be looking for a family friendly place.... Anyone have any suggestions on where to go and also... what is the best bait to use?

Thank you!!!

Unsure of small lakes near there but for kids best fishing is bluegills and sunfish which should be hitting now and just need a small hook, bobber, and a garden worm. Fish from shore in couple feet of water and watch kids get hooked on fishing.Panfish are great eating also.

Look at dnr website show lakes in area:

look here may have to drive a bit but worth it.

You can fish off of Oak Island in Wausau. There is a nice park there too. Or go down to Mosinee and fish on the river. Or over on Lake Dubay by the park.
