Went out for a drive at sundown the other night. Had to turn back because the windshield was getting cluttered up. Here's a shot of the mirror.

You need to post that on the Florida boards to show them what mosquitoes are REALLY like up north. On another board I frequent a woman was complaining how bad the mosquitoes were, they were out all evening and got 5 whole bites .

I read in last week's Wisconsin State Journal an article about the number of mosquitos in the Madison area. There is some sort of mosquito trap where they generally catch 300-400 mosquitos in a 12 hour period. This past week, they caught 20,000 in a 12 hour period. Nice.
Here's a link to the article, which also did a test of the different mosquito repellents and how long they worked. As you might imagine, the higher level DEET products, like Deep Woods Off, worked the longest (about 4 hours).

Yes..the mosquito should be the state bird in Wisconsin, but worse is the draconian measures some towns take to try and control them. My town fogs the whole town with pesticides from truck mounted sprayers twice a week. My house smells like bug spray, not to mention the serious health effects, cough..choke..

Maybe they should spray Listerine all over the place instead.

Anyone try using dryer sheets? I've heard they work well & it sounds more appealing than listerine.

I've lost count of the number of bites I have, even after using various repellents! Had family here for the weekend and just couldn't see sitting indoors so we toughed it out.
Amazing even when it is windy, or a little cooler they just aren't giving up this year. Tough little dudes they are!

My favorite is when I got mosquito bitten while I was waterskiing. To this day I have no idea how that sucker latched onto me.

mINT!!! mosquitoes hate mint. lEMON BALM mint. plant mint in the yard, every where. when you mow the lawn it send out a heavenly smell. Let some mature, very attractive greenery. Dry some and grind and keep in obscure places. Ants also hate mint.
Orange peels? shred them to smithereens and throw them in the yard all over in obscure places. Dry lemon/orange peesl. Shred them throw all over the yard, put them under flower beds, in obscure places.
Never throw away food. Feed the birds with it. Birds will also eat mosquitoes.
Put bat houses HIGH up in the trees.....bats favorite foods....mosquitoes.
In fact towns should never pollute with pesticides. They are killing you too!!!!!!
There are many "natural" plants that can be planted as "pesticides."
