Cool Fitzpatrick Resort, Long Lake WI

I spent my childhood summers at Fitzpatrick Resort in Long Lake Wisconsin......this was in the 50's.......a long time ago. I have some great memories from these years. I have tried to find out if this place still exists but have had no luck.
It was a very small town and the resort was cabins. The first one we stayed in had no indoor toilet. There was a swimming hole. The town had a store where we bought ice cream cones. We went to the local school to play on the playground. The city dump attracted bears. There was a small island in the lake called Honeymoon Island. There was an unused railroad track along the property.
Anyone have any info?

Default found it!

Fitzpatrick resort is now Long Lake resort. The owner very kindly called me after I tracked down the owner of Fay Lake resort. When I went to the website Iwas surprised to see that very little has changed over the years........makes me want to go back for a visit!

Go back while you still can -- the old-school Wisconsin resort is a quickly dying breed. The taxes are killing them off, today's vacationers are looking for a more "upscale" experience, and developers are offering the owners huge amounts of money that they can't turn down. If the resort sits on a decent-sized lake, sometimes the developer will simply turn around and sell off the tiny little individual cabins for about a hundred grand apiece. That's how wacky prices have gotten for lakeside real estate.

Too true, the days of the mom and pop resorts/motels, housekeeping cottages are falling by the wayside. Today everyone wants microwaves, big TV's, hot tubs, fancy schmancy!

In spite of being a world traveler, some of my best memories are family vacations in a simple housekeeping cottage at a lake, tile or cement floor where you could sweep out the sand, definitely not carpeted! My mom never minded cooking a simple meal for supper, we were on our own for breakfast and lunch. There was never a TV or even a radio, cards and board games were the main evening entertainment.

Even the Cliff Dwellers up in Door, has been totally changed over to fancier, and I notice they are selling some off for at least 6 figures! I stayed there when it was pretty rustic only thing that seems to be the same is bikes for the state park, however, they may not be free anymore.
