Default Eau Claire La Crosse commute

I have a job in La Crosse, my husband is tryingt o relocate to the area. His company has offices in Rochester and EauClaire. The Rochester office said he cannot be hired there because the weather will prohibit his travel time even if we moved 1/2 way between the two. So no we are looking at Eau Claire/ What would the travel be like if we moved 1/2 way between EC and LAX? It's scary b/c I have a job and must move in just a few weeks and now he is up in the air!~
Thanks

If the weather prohibits travel from Rochester and La Crosse and that is why they won't let him live in Rochester, you are going to get the same answer about Eau Claire. It is 85 miles from Eau Claire to La Crosse and 75 miles from Rochester to La Crosse.

Default long commute times

All of the towns in-between La Crosse and Eau Claire are extremely small. Hwy 93 is a good road in between those cities. You could look at Eleva, Independence, and Arcadia if you are looking for something in-between. Having grown up in that vicinity, I don't have much good to say about any of them. I knew someone who commuted from Eau Claire to Arcadia every day and it was about an hour each way. That gets old really fast, especially in the winter with bad roads. If one of you could telecommute on some days that could help. If schools are a concern, the Eleva-Strum school district is probably the best of the three. Good luck.

I agree with geekduo, LaCrosse to EC would be a brutal commute; 1.5 hours from one to the other....a town exactly in the middle would still be 45 minutes one way for both of you. If roads are good and if you don't get caught behind a tractor or a school bus.
