First step to getting a redesigned license plate completed.
Just thought I would post this before I left for the weekend. I've been exchanging emails with a Reggie who is part of the special plates unit for the WI-DOT. I explained to him how I would like to redesign our plates. He said at the current moment the ones to actually get this moving are out of the office but he will let me know when they're back. I got there attention which is good. I can't wait to see where this goes.
I have many,many ideas.
Talk to you all on Sunday...

Shannon, I had one for a wolf overlooking a bluff with a river below. There is more I just need to work on them a little.

all anybody ever seems to do nowadays is complain that WI is a tax hell and that there is so much waste in the state government and getting new license plates is all some people can think about.
I find it strange that most Americans don't know the difference between Monet and Manet but are looking for a square piece of metal to serve as some type of art. Who's going to pay for them? the Taxpayers.

Why would I change every states plate? Our plate is simply out dated... It also creates a stereotype that Wisconsin is "Just Dairy" I mean we need alot more than that.

At least someone's trying to do something about it. Plenty of other people are uselessly taking up space on the couch, fattening up for winter. Anyway there are twenty nine license plates when I just counted the DMV site (give or take one or two, I was in a hurry). Talk about a waste of money... 29 plates, yet the best the state can do, is America's Dairyland. The current plate has been around for about 20 years in multiple similar iterations--and needs to go. No offense to farmers or cows of course. Actually, the slogan could get lost too. Nobody would cry in their beer over that one.
Also we could probably ditch "Celebrate Children". If that cost the state nothing to implement, it was still a waste. My opinion of course.

Well, for what it's worth I think it's a great idea. Anyway the state already produces license plates, I don't see why a new design would be cost prohibitive. They already make different plates, so why not replace the current version with a different (better) one and be done with it.
Besides that, license plates are a roaming advertisement for the state. Anywhere a person takes their car, people see the license plate. And as much as I respect the dairy industry, it's time to advertise something that actually makes people want to come to the state. The state is dumb for missing this easy opportunity, but then again, that's hardly surprising.
