Captain that is really good to hear that there are multinational companies there. That will be good for me. Being safe is what i'm big on. Even though I know crime is everywhere, but there are levels

Well Vanilla the place sounds good and it seems I keep hearing alot more good then bad. And I keep hearing Appleton is alot better then Green Bay. I looked at the images of Green Bay and the city seems alot older. Was not really impressed with the downtown. Maybe that would change if I actually visit there. But Appleton I think is the one callin my name the most lol. La Crosse seems pretty cool too. Read alot about that town as well. But I think Appleton would have more jobs in my field. Thank you. I never really considered Wisconsin a destination until now..But this decision is critical cause the next place I go will be permanent!!

If you want a community close to Appleton that you can leave your keys in the car and not worry "as much anyway", try Kimberly, WI.

Hello Parrtea thanks for the advice! I do understand no place is perfect. There will always be racism. The only reason I brought it up on this thread is because of the negativity down in Milwaukee. I was interested in that city until I started hearing how bad it was racially and how it was not really safe. But I should do fine in Appleton. I'm excited and can't wait to get there. I will be single and alone but I should make some good friends and decent salary. And another thing I found is that housing and rents are reasonable. Nice town nice people low cost of living...how much could one ask for Oh what is your son mixed with? I will also check out Kimberly right away..

I wouldn't say that there's racial tension, though. Most of the racial tension in the state is in Milwaukee. Appleton is pretty tame.

Cool! Sounds good. I don't mind a whitebread leave it to beaver town. I perfer that actually! lol What part of Wisconsin are you in?

White-collar suburban? You can find it within a comfy drive from Appleton.
File this under "for what it's worth" - as most people say, Appleton isn't very diverse. And people around here notice people and things that are different from what they know. Some people are racist, but that's everywhere. Most are good, friendly people once they get to know you. Don't confuse people's hesitation with racism - most probably don't want to bother you!
Hmmm, kinda meandering post. Anyways, hope you come to Appleton, hope you enjoy it!

Thank you!! It seems out of most of the cities I looked into (mostly northern) Appleton has the best threads of positivity about the city. It seems everyone is enjoying this place. Computer jobs I do see Appleton has plenty of! A minature little tech town. I'm very suprised cause most small towns have nothing when it comes to white collar jobs in the IT field. My dream city though was Burlington, Vermont. Man Vermont is Beautiful and super safe. Sadly it's Very Expensive and no jobs in a city with 38,000 people. I read there losing there youth in big numbers soon as they finish college. And the taxes kill the average middle class worker . Too bad I can't live there but Appleton should fit me just as well. Appleton seems like it has alot of character which would seperate it from the average All American city........

Ha! Funny you mentioned Manitowoc. I was just reading up on that town. Coastal beach town. Heard some nice things about it. Sheboygan as well. I think is was Cnn money magazine that named Sheboygan as one of top towns out of hundred to live in. But yeah Appleton I will give it a try. I just hate being in cities where there is still a divide and still stuck in the past ya know. Kind of sucks. And if Milwaukee is still in the past who would want to live there? I think I would not be happy there thats for sure . LOL you got to love these emoticons!
