Default Living in Stanley

I'm looking at a couple of houses in Stanley because it's a lot more affordable than the Eau Claire area and you get a lot more bang for your buck, but I don't know a whole lot about the town. I've been there maybe twice and I've looked at a few houses there already but can someone give me a low down on the town? What's the average age? (I'm 25) Do they have city events at all (parades, festivals, etc)? What stores are there? How many grocery stores? Etc. Thanks!

Thanks so much countrygal and cavewoman! It's my first house and I'm buying it by myself so it's scary and intimidating all at once! I'm scouring the internet on all of the towns I'm looking at and since my family and friends will be about a half hour away it's even scarier for me I think. They are just close enough for me to still be able to see them whenever I want but far enough that it's intimidating.

I lived in Cornell Wisconsin and was there alone for a year. I went to Stanley alot as my job covered all the towns in Chippewa County.
Stanley is a strong and friendly community. I worked with a sweet family on opening a creative arts/store. People are very nice.
1/2 hour is nothing. Plenty close and properties are limited so again I think you will love it.

They have a nice furniture store and I remember a grocery store there too. The train runs through there...Progressive Rail. I liked the train whistles.

I was born and raised in stanley...I loved it. most are friendly. nice historical society. I went to school with one of the undertakers. it is a family thing. and they are really good. I have a sister that lives there and my brother has a farm there north of Stanley. fine hospital. good schools. Nice lake and park.
Hope you enjoy it.
