Female. Straight, married, living in a neighborhood full of straight marrieds. We all get along just fine. We have a mixed race couple down the block, and we have a lesbian couple next door who are two of the nicest people I've ever met.

I have plenty of female friends who also love it here. Perhaps you're just giving out a bad vibe. Maybe knock the chip off your shoulder first.

I thought this was a place where people can share their experiences and opinions openly....it would be really nice if people could do so without being insulted...It's happened to me and I just don't like to see it done to other posters. applesoranges has her experiences and you have yours. People judge things from their own set of experience and also expectations etc.

Good for you for having great neighbors and all....doesn't make those with negative experiences bad people!

I've lived in the south since 2007 and we find people really keep to themselves, although their outward manners are friendly. We had tons of friends in WI.

Sorry, I didn't mean to seem like a *****, but her "They like their males there," seemed snarky to me.

I don't find Wisconsinites biased one way or the other towards males or females. I know I'm the exception.

How about joining clubs based on things you enjoy? If you like hanging out with gals and reading the latest bestsellers, do that. If you like hiking, find a club for that. Don't just depend on fate to introduce you to people who may not be the friendliest. Find an interest you enjoy and try to find others who share that interest. They may be more receptive to newcomers to have more members in their group.
