Interesting how everyone assumes they're coming from L.A. and not from some dusty inland jerkwater hick town that makes Appleton look like Paris. Not everything in SoCal is Hollywood and Orange County, people.
If they are coming from an urban environment in SoCal, it's a far better bet are they'd be in San Diego. Which kind of gets me to asking: what military jobs are there in Appleton anyway? Recruiting maybe?

I am a california native and I spent a few years in WI. and my family and i loved it. we are planning on moving back next summer. in fact, to the appleton area. the only thing that i found hard was the winter. it was hard having day after day of no sun. especially for a californian who is used to sun every day. as far as stepping back in time yeah that's true. but for us that wasn't a big deal because people were different in a good way. here in CA it seems that mostly everyone wants to be a tough guy. not many people are community oriented or neighborly. also as far as diversity that everyone keeps talking about that's not all it's cracked up to be. yeah we have diversity but we have people coming to CA illegally and bringing their 3rd world mentality with them. unless you can afford to live in say Newport or Huntington you have to face ALOT of low lives. anyway i'm starting to ramble. but if you go with an open mind and just accept people for their slower pace and not try to change people to your way of thinking and acclimate yourself to your surroundings you will be fine. there is alot of beauty in WI and if you are open to it it will be a wonderful experience for you. my advice is to go their with an open mind and DON"T go their thinking that CA is so cool and no one can measure up. cause that will ruin the experience for you

i'm sure people from appleton and WI in general do alot more than drink ,eat brats and watch packers. yeah those are some things that they do! but i know there is alot more. just like, i am from CA and it would be stereotypical if someone said all there is to do in CA is surf, eat granola and say "what's up dude" that's stereotyping an area get it???? |
