Default Relocation

We are looking to relocate from Madison to Janesville. Can anyone tell us why the houses are so cheap? Does anyone know about the school system and crime? I have looked on the web for crime data and acatually compares in most part to Madison but was interested in someone who knows the area. Thanks

Housing is usually cheap in the Midwest because land is a plenty. Witht hat said, housing is NOT cheap in Madison...and if it is, there is prob. a reason for it. Madison and Janesville have decent crimes rates. Just drive around Madison and you will be able to tell which areas to steer clear from.

I think "houses are so cheap" is relative. Right now you happen to live in one of the most expensive housing markets in the Midwest outside of the Chicago area. About the only other place that compares is Ann Arbor. So Janesville might look cheap by comparison but I think you'll find it's quite in line with similar sized cities throughout the northern Midwest, or probably even a bit more expensive. Nothing wrong with Janesville, it's just that the housing market isn't on fire like in Madison.

Default Relocating

My fiance and I are looking for apartments in Janesville. Does anyone have any recommendations of properties that have been good or places to stay away from? I'm a long time Nebraskan so i'm trying to get all the information I can for the relocation. Thanks!
