Moving to Lacrosse
After visiting, vacationing in the lacrosse area for the last 12 years I have a job offer to relocate to the area. This area has always amazed me in regards to the scenery, and just the general friendly attitide of the people. I have literally stopped many people and just asked if they liked living there,EVERYONE has said they love it. We currently live, work in madison and I am really loking for a different life style than this big city( I can not help but wonder about the next 25 years). We are both mid thirties,no children, family ties in madison. I feel this may be my only chance.
SO, Tell me why you like, dislike the area on a day to living level!
THANK YOU !!!!

There's been quite a few posts about LaCrosse, start out by doing a search. I'm sure you'll get some posts as LaCrosse gets mentioned alot.
I've visited the area and like it alot. Key thing is to be there during the week, talk to people in the post office, grocery store, city hall.
Good luck!

I lived there for a short time years ago and some family members have a history there. It is a nice smaller city on the Mississippi and much closer to MPLS than Madison. Go for it if you like the feel of the place.

I went to college there in the 70's and typically visit once a year. I think it is a city that has a little bit of everything and the scenery is amazing! You can go over the bridge into La Crescent, MN and drive up along the Mississippi (one route I believe is the Apple Blossom and the other the Great River - pretty sure those are the names)> Anyway, in fall it is an amazing drive and I never tire of it. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee now but if given the chance I would not hesitate to move to La Crosse. Oh - you also have Perrot State Park about a half hour or so away and it's great. Good luck with whatever choice you make but IMO I think you'd love La Crosse!!

Living in La Crosse
I moved here from Iowa in 93 and I never expected, coming from a farm, to love this area as much as I do. It is where I will always call home. I have been a truck driver for 21 years and I have seen most of the country. There are many places that I love to visit for one reason or another, but so far I have not found any place in the US that makes me feel as "At home" and "settled" as La Crosse. It is big enough that you have just about everything you need at your reach but not too big and not having the problems of a large city.
There are definitely specific differences between La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen and even West Salem. Simply put, you should be able to find what you need here somewhere.
On that note, if you are in need of a home, I have two that you may or may not be interested in. A 2BR 2 story near Gunderson/Lutheran Hospital and a 4-5 BR, 3 1/2 Bath Colonial near cedar Creek Golf Course in Onalaska.
If you are curious about either one or even if you just need a guide to get to know the area, feel free to contact me at DDK2us@charter.net
Best of luck with your search.
