Plover needs more streetlights.
Hi everyone. I live in Plover and like to take my dog out for walks. If I don't have time during the day, I go out in the evening...and with our short days in the fall, it gets dark around 6:30 pm. I took my dog out tonight around 7:00 and it was pitch black. The streets around my house have maybe one streetlight every 1/2 mile. How do I get the village to consider installing more lights?? I think if you live in town, you should have lighted streets.

How many residences are on your street? I would contact the department of public works and talk to them. Maybe pass around a petition. If your outside city limits in a town then it probably won't happen. Unless you live in the city of Plover you have a possibility.

I live in the Village of Plover...on a city street. There are probably 30 residences on my street alone, plus probably about 30 more and some apartment complexes on the route I took for my walk tonight. I'll try calling the department of public works and see if they'll consider more lights. Thanks!

confused
so what you are saying is that the residents of plover should pay more taxes for light poles and electricity so you can walk your dog when it is dark?? Is that correct?
Don't you think that it would be more cost effective for the citizens of Plover if you walked your dog during the day?? Or should we all shoulder the burden of you dog walking preferences??

Hmmm, I'd go for calling public works department as Josh suggests, aren't you already paying taxes??? Smile, Berries
Plover is a little smaller than Two Rivers not by much, and we have lots of street lights. I walk at night alot (without a dog) and feel perfectly safe, would not if it wasn't well lit.

Night is cool. Why ruin it with more light pollution? I would think someone walking a dog can easily stay out of the way of any car.
Come to Chicago area. It is hard to see the night sky.

We moved out to the country. I walk our dog in the dark. I just have reflective clothing and stay over to the side of the road.

Some of us live around the Plover area so we can actually see the night sky.
But if you can convince the village elders that it's needed for safety, then good luck to you.
Myself, I don't see the need.
