anyone else's local govt showing the realities of the economy
Read and article in the paper and snowplowing will be DRAMATICALLY reduced. If you live rural you will most likely not make it to work on bad snow days. No plowing before 6 am or after 3 pm. No plowing on weekends unless lots of snow and the obligation to plow is in a state statute that give 3 WEEKS FOR CLEARANCE/.
We are looking at tough budget times. They can not afford to provide the level of service we are used to . No more blacktop on roads either, and rural roads will probably not be plowed. hope you do not live in the country and have to get in every day, or you will probably suffer. Maybe postal routes will be cut too and you will have to go to a PO box.
Anyone else read of any other cutbacks in their locals????????

They were talking about reduced plowing around here as well. I'm not worried about it. We'll weather through it. I do part time plowing in the winter and last winter the county roads didn't hit a local subdivision where our house was sitting vacant for sale, so as I went to check on the house I drove through the neighborhood and plowed. Got alot of people waving. The county was never around early enough.

We haven't had any cutbacks either. We built our house out in the country this year so we shall see. We have a private snowplower for our business. If it is bad I can have him run out to our house and plow there too.

Geesh, that doesn't make sense! Plow when people are trying to get around? Makes more sense to plow before 6 am and after 3 pm (of course depending on when the snow actually arrives)!
TR always moves alot of snow late at night, as they never leave big piles on the corners like you see in Illinois. It will be interesting to see how they handle it this year as I read in the paper budgets are going to be tight when it comes to salt and snow plowing.

Our town is going to be using a lot less salt on the roads but adding a lot more sand. I see this as a plus because it'll extend the life of my vehicles' bodywork. They've told us to slow down when the roads are bad! Duh!
