Question Employment In Southern Door Cty.

Hi, I am new to this board and I have a question.
My wife and I are Door County Bound for retirement (around 5 years away) and are now considering relocating sooner and finishing our work years there. North of Sturgeon Bay I see little industry which is an attraction for retirement. Does anyone on this know where I might connect with Manufacturing Companies in the Kewaunee and Manitowoc areas besides Monster, and the Wisinfo? Wife is a nurse so that is a no-brainer for employment. Appreciate any info.

Haved you tried to just google Manitowoc Wi and sometimes they have links to employment, housing and such. It's worth a try. BTW, great area. Anything near Lake Michigan is beautiful.
Good Luck

Have you tried contacting the Door County Economic Development Corp. or one of the area Chambers of Commerce? Or similar groups in Kewaunee County, which would be significantly closer than Manitowoc? If you don't have luck there, the Green Bay Press-Gazette has online classifieds (although I don't know how different they are from Monster). You could also get info from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, which has outreach locations in both counties, and possibly from Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce. There's also the (statewide) Wisconsin Innovation Network that might have information about companies with interesting products or R&D giong on, but that won't be limited to the Door Peninsula. And depending on your area of expertise, there might be a professional organization in your field based in Green Bay or Appleton (like the Society of Manufacturing Engineers).

One of your best (and most fun) prospects might be to just start going to little diners in the area for breakfast or lunch and chatting up the locals. If you go before July 4, you'll be more likely to encounter year-round residents rather than tourists or summer hires.

I hope that helps - good luck!
