Default Don't worry, it's coming soon...

Well folks I thought this would be the perfect timing to write this since it's winter awareness week here in Wisconsin.

I just wanted to post a few numbers for all y'all.

For newcomers or anyone who doesn't remember last winter, Madison set a record for snowfall of 101.4". That's more tha double the winter average. That also broke the old record of 76.1".

The coldest temperature in the state last year was -37 at Clam Lake in Sawyer County.

The town that had the most snow last winter was Gurney in Iron County with 147" of the white stuff.

The least amount of snow fell in Alma which is in Buffalo county. Alma only hit 39.5" last winter.

Wisconsin's all time lowest temperature was -55 on February 2nd and 4th in 1996. It took place near Couderay, which is also in Sawyer county.

Superior has the record for the greatest single storm receiving 31" of snow from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 in 1991.

Hurley has the greatest monthly total of 103.5" in January 1997. Hurley also holds the record of greatest seasonal total of 301.8" in 1996-1997.

Remember, Winter is almost here!

So if you haven't winterized your car, do so before it's to late.

Oh god, don't remind us of last year's snow, ugh! But yes, the winterizing of the car is always a good idea, thank you.

It just dawned on me...since I retired in July, this winter I won't HAVE to go out and battle the snowstorms if I don't want to. WOW. After a lifetime of battling Wisconsin snowstorms I will feel like a spoiled princess, all snug and warm and watching the beautiful snow out my window.

Awesome not working, having to get up, shovel then drive to work, fight the traffic, etc. The first year I retired in Illinois I was so bummed because it was a minimal snow year, no bigger snowfalls!

We had a squall pass through Appleton this afternoon, which stuck to the grass, but the sun is back out now.

DH is over near Eau Claire for a couple of days and, when he called about a half hour ago, it was snowing hard.

Ceanna is on a distinguished road
No snow here in La Crosse. We did see the sun for a few minutes this afternoon for the first time in days.
