Default moving to Wisconsin

My husband has been transferred to Kenosha, WI and we are trying to find a good area to move to. I have one son and need a good school district for his dyslexia. We have looked around Kenosha and like what we saw but we are also interested in living near a lake. I like the Twin Lakes area and Paddock Lake area. Can anyone give me some info on these areas and any other areas that would be a good place for a family? We will try to move this summer before the new school year so we do have some time to make a decision.

Just a suggestion but if you find a community thats a little smaller the schools are a little better. This is because teachers can actually go one-on-one with you child if they are having troubles. I don't know anything about Kenosha, just around the Central part of the state. Hope this Helps.

We lived in Paddock Lake for 8 years. We left the area before my kids started school though. I can tell you that Salem Elementary school, which serves Paddock Lake, is a big school with big class sizes. I have friends and family in Twin Lakes. The schools there are supposed to be good, with smaller class sizes. Especially Randall Elementary has a good reputation. Good luck with your move!

Smile Moving to Kenosha

Having lived in Kenosha most of my life, and teaching here and in Racine, I can honestly say, Kenosha schools are overall, sooooo much better than Racine, so don't go there.

Most of the elementary schools in Kenosha have good special education / 504 Plans (504 is similar to an Individual Education Plan).

My favorites:
Somer's Elem. (Somers is also cheaper to live in.) North Side
Bose Elem. North Side
Harvey Elem. North Side
Pleasent Prarie Elem. South Side
Stoker Elem. South Side

If you would like more info on Kenosha Schools, go to www.kusd.edu This will take you everywhere you want to go.

Default Kenosha,WI

Kenosha County schools are some of the very best in the COUNTRY, and the property taxes are equally high.. The care for special needs kids is quite good here also. If you are actually looking for small-lake living, Padock Lake is 13 minutes due West of Kenosha, and Twin Lakes is about 35 to 40 minutes West. Twin Lakes is more of a Chicago-suburb and a more expensive , but the lake(s) are more suited to water sports than Paddock Lake. With Kenosha
stradling the Illinois state line, Twin Lakes likewise, there are as many Illinois people living here as original Wisconsinites.. It MUST BE nice, or they wouldn't be moving, or summering, here. Highway 50 is a 4 lane State Highway running East to West, making all of the lakes pretty accesible to everything in the area.. Colleges (3 in Kenosha), airports(35 min to Milwaukee Mitchell Field, and 50-60 min. to Chicago's O'Hare Intl.) Many people live in these lake areas and commute daily to both Milwaukee and Chicago.

Default Another good town to look at....

My family just moved to Salem due to a job transfer with my husband's company. I don't care much for Salem. We had a hard time with some of the teachers at the grade school and the overall feel at the school was depressing. The high school is 100 times worse but that's a whole other subject. Anyway, we are moving to Burlington. It's a small community of about 10,000 people. It has awesome schools with tons of programs available. I'd recommend you check out this pretty town.
