The thing that I find amusing about this convo is that Milwcity never came back to confirm it had anything to do with the way he was dressed.
WOW, I totally missed out on this conversation. I hadn't changed too much I just out on a different T-shirt but the same jeans I was wearing. When I went up to the bar I ordered a Blatz and maybe it doesn't have the same 'retro' appeal as Pabst and Schlitz do down here now where it's the cool thing to be drinking old beers. It probably was the way I was talking and accent as I eluded to before I'm from the "sout side of M'waukee".

However I actually get this a lot..."are you from Chicago" I take it as a compliment but nobody in WI ever means it as a compliment that's for sure, believe me. I was in Mukwonago at a bike bar and got asked the same thing within 5min from walking in the bar and of course all my friends laughed b/c it's a recurring theme. This time when I was at this biker bar I pulled up in my Saab coming right from the golf course and I ordered a...wait for it....White Russian. Then I proceeded to play a little Sinatra on the "jutebox" and I admit I did that on purpose b/c after why would a biker bar even have frank Sinatra in their play list if they didn't want it to be played. I admit I did this to get a rise out of the bar and I heard some great comment's coming from the back of the bar.

I might just carry myself a certain way I guess and ordering foofy drinks at a biker bar prolly doesn't help. Go Bears!

This whole conversation makes me lol. It reminds me of My Cousin Vinny where they walk into the Pool and Chicken bar.

BTW, I am from the South side of Chicahhgo. My dad made Polish sausage for a living, owned his own deli.
I'll blend. Especially when I cheer for the Brewers when they beat the Cubs.

CheeseheadInNV is on a distinguished road
I lived in Wisconsin for 17 years, from when I was born, til when we left for Nevada. I miss everything about it. I even want to move back.

I miss the Milwaukee Bucks, the lakefront, Downtown at night, the museums, the snow, Southridge Mall, 27th Street, 76th Street, Kopp's Frozen Custard, El Rey Mexican Grocery Stores, real Wisconsin bratwurst, cheese curds, fried cheese curds, Pick 'n Save, State Fair (Even though we come back every year for it, I still miss living so close to the State Fair park), Summer/Polish/German/Irishfest, Festa Italiana, Miller Park, Bradley Center, the 94, Tam's Chop Suey, my old school/church, the Dells, and much, much, much, much more.

Oh, Nevada sounded so good to move to, but I just cant get WI outta my mind. I miss it!

Sounds like what you mostly miss is the Milwaukee area. How about the rest of the state? Did you head "up nort" very often? That's a big part of what I miss about Wisconsin.

I can't imagine what it would take to drag me out to Nevada. I know a lot of people dream of desert livin', but man, it's just not for me.

Everyone talks about the beautiful desert wild flowers, the scenery, moutains in the distance, etc.!

I'm a fan of total green foliage, I love lots of trees! Flying into Las Vegas, Phoenix, anything west, I can never get over how brown it is, not what I want to see every day.

The desert and mountains are nice at times if you have ATV's to explore them but I definately prefer the country, green, water, and 4 seasons in Wisconsin.

Why would a 29 year old stay living in a state that they hate??? Seems like you could have moved away about 11 years ago or so. BTW, where exactly have you visited that makes you have such a low opinion of Wisconsin?

I love it when people crapmouth the place they live but can't be bothered to do something about it. Someone whose laziness overwhelms their disdain... now that must be a really fun person to hang out with.
Classic. I'd rep you again if I could. Great post.

I loved living in WI. Of course it wasn't perfect, but it was a great 20 years and I miss WI. It was a great place to raise my kids.

Unless your address in WI is something like "Waupun Correctional Institution", you don't have to stay if you don't like it.

Every single place has pros and cons. There are things I miss about MI, CA, Germany, WI and even Memphis believe it or not (although, not much). Typically if a person is completely miserable somewhere, it points more to the person than the place.
