but then again not much more than a week ago it was sunny and 60's here. the fluctuation is there; its not like we sit entirely in a deep freeze until may 1st.

then again, shoot, we may as well, lol.

Well...I currently live in WI and I'm looking for a way out. I've lived here for 20 years and can't stand it anymore. Yes it is beautiful in the summer (July,August) but once winter hits it's unbearable!!! after the fall season everything turns ugly the snow (dirty slush) melts and it's just bitter cold your car won't even start!! People here are extremely ceap and crabby. I lived in CO & TX for a little bit and people there were soooo much nicer. If your a hunter then you'll probably like Canada. This state is full of Fat lazy people with no ambition. It is April 4 and it's snowing!!!

i would like to state for the record (regarding the post above greggs) that in 13 years of driving, and 15 cars in that time, i've never, not even one time, had my car not start in the winter.

All it takes is a well tuned up car, and a good battery. Rub it in a little more you say--Naw, I'm not THAT mean. Besides, I see Appleton might get all the way up to 34 today. Time to fill up the pools!!! LOL

Milwaukee may hit 38 on Easter Sunday!! Whoo - hoo, above freezing for Easter...it is planting season!

OK, yes, the weather is not good overall in Wisconsin (except for mid-April through October, which is actually generally very good), but I do agree...the car starting issue isn't too big of a deal. A bigger deal for cars in WI actually is a shorter shelf life for them due to rusting from the salt on the roads for many months, etc. But as for them starting...most cars will be fine with proper TLC in the WI winters.

I do know though, from here in Albuquerque, NM with today's high of 79 degrees forecast, the weather sometimes is tough in WI. However, it is more generally tough psychologically than actually to live/drive, etc. - those things are very doable.

(And considering that people live in droves in areas like Chicago, the Twin Cities, etc., that have similar climates to WI...they could also attest that it is very doable.)

This whole topic makes me laugh. Honestly, there are a few types of people from WI, and of those people some people love it and some hate it. The types - people from Milwaukee, people from Madison, people from central WI, and people from northern WI.

Being from central WI and moving to northern for 5 years... well, it made me hate the state. However, going to college really made me understand the rest of the state, which made me hate Madison (stuck up) and like Milwaukee.

The taxes are all I ever hear about. My family starts saving for property taxes as soon as they are done paying for them.

The winter - hell on earth... but the opposite. Honestly, they make me wan to move to California... which is why I am in less than two months

Today - 27 degrees, yesterday snow... high in the next 7 days 42 next tuesday after having it 80 degrees last week.... gotta hate wisconsin.

As for the car not starting issue...there were tons of cars on the side of the highway this past winter because it was too damn cold. I've heard of plenty people's cars not starting. My truck didn't start last year (2004,and well taken care of) when we had below zero temps. So it does happen. I'm not delusional. I would suggest coming here in the summer and enjoy it and then leave after Sep. I live right on the lake and it's gorgeous in the summer. As for the winter...not so much.

i must have the magic touch. i even park my car outside.

so how did all those cars get to the highway if they couldn't start? thats a long way to push start, and quite an interesting place to give up
