After several visits to the peninsula we are committed to relocate for retirement around 2011. Though it is a few years off we wanted to get the take of full time residents on the lifestyle, pace and economy in Door. We are boaters, and no strangers to snow and cold winters (Buffalo, NY) What we are seeking is quiet, low profile living.

Haven't actually lived there since I was 2, but have visited innummerable times for family reasons. My suggestion is to find something on the Lake Michigan side--Algoma, Kewaunee, and don't look too far north. The woods and water is beautiful, prices are reasonable, and the area has a very homey/farmy feel still. You can always hop in the car and go for a day trip to the touristy areas.
